GRANT Help Needed from ARES Members
All;SMAT 400 (Duke SMAT) is applying for a grant to cover the cost for development of 2 portable HF/VHF/UHF amateur radio units. These are the portable stations that Steve A. W3AHL showed pictures of during his digital presentation at a recent DFMA meeting.
Each set-up has the capability to provide HF / VHF and UHF voice and digital operations all in a portable package and they cost approx $5000 ea to put together.
The great news is that Duke SMAT 400 wants to become one of our served agencies, and in doing so will allow the portable stations to be used by us locally as needed for training or emergencies when not being used during an Duke SMAT deployment.
Now, in-order to help the grant application, SMAT leaders want to show the grant reviewers that they have amateur radio involvement and this would be a plus in getting the grant approved.
They would like amateur radio operators to visit the North Carolina website for registering volunteers www.servnc.org and register as a volunteer. It will look primarily like a healthcare/medical volunteer registry, but in your profile list yourself as a amateur radio operator. Duke Trauma Regional Advisory Committee - Medical Reserve Corps
Agency Affiliation would be : Duke Trauma Regional Advisory Committee - Medical Reserve Corps
