SCRIPT FOR DURHAM COUNTY ARES NET


Bold type indicates what is to be read over the air.

Italics are instructions to the net control operator.

5 MINUTES BEFORE NET:
This is {your callsign}. The Durham County ARES net will begin in 5 minutes on this repeater. If you need to make an urgent call, please do so at this time.

At 8:00 PM ET:
This is {your callsign} Calling the Durham County ARES net, calling the Durham County ARES net.

Brief pause (release mike button at each pause to avoid timing out the repeater)

This net meets each Monday at 8:00 PM ET on the WR4AGC 145.45 MHz repeater, through the courtesy of the Durham FM Association. All amateurs are welcome to use this open repeater when it is not occupied by a scheduled net.

This is a directed net and is part of the ARRL field organization. The purpose of this net is to provide communications during emergencies and to provide training in procedures that would apply in actual emergencies and test communications capabilities of Durham Co. ARES.

All Radio Amateurs are invited to participate in this net and visit us online at WWW.DURHAMARES.ORG for up-to-date information and resources.

When checking in give net control's call sign {your callsign phonetically}, pause and listen briefly to avoid doubling, and then give your call sign phonetically, your first name and your location.

Any stations having emergency, priority or time-valued traffic, please call {your callsign} now.

If there is any traffic, allow traffic to pass and then resume the rest of the net when control is returned to you.

If there's training: Tonight {presenters callsign or name} will provide training and information on {topic} .

Any THEN or NTS Liaison Station, Section Officer, District or County EC please call {your callsign}.

If any, acknowledge all stations and then have them give their traffic in the order in which they checked in.

Any stations with net bulletins or announcements, please call {your callsign}.

If any, acknowledge all stations and then have them give their announcements in the order in which they checked in.

We will now accept check-ins by the first letter of your call sign suffix. Stations should request permission to secure if they are not participating in tonight's activity.

If there were no checkins, or all checkins also checked out, go to CONCLUSION.

Thanks, everyone, for checking in today. We'll move to the {training / informal} portion of the net now.

If you have anything to say, go first. If there's training, introduce the facilitator and pass control to them. When complete, control should be returned by the facilitator.

For each station on the list that did not secure:

CONCLUSION:

This concludes the Durham County ARES Net. Our thanks to the Durham FM Association for allowing us to use the WR4AGC 145.45 repeater. Also our thanks to all the operators who checked in tonight. Those stations may secure at their leisure. This is {your callsign}, returning the repeater to normal amateur use.

Send a net report to the EC (ec@durhamares.org) and Administrative AEC (admin-aec@durhamares.org) within a few days after calling the net. This report should include the date of the net, number of checkins, count of traffic listed traffic passed, and the total time of the net. You may send the report via radio but email is encouraged.
